House Prices Rise in Somerset, South West England

House prices in Somerset rose by just over seven per cent in a year, Land Registry

figures show.

In April 2007, the average price of a house in the county stood at £184,364

compared to £171,151 the previous April.

April’s figures also represent a rise of 0.7 per cent on March’s house prices.

The average cost of a detached house in Somerset in April was £298,202, semis

costs £169,717 and the average price of a terraced house stood at £139,109.

The figures put Somerset above the national average cost of a house, which stood

at £179,935 in April.

The busiest month for moving house in Somerset between April 2006 and this

February was in August last year, when 1,413 properties were sold. The quietest

month was in February with 738 homes sold.
