House Prices Rise in West Yorkshire

House prices in West Yorkshire rose by just over eight per cent in a year, Land

Registry figures show.

In April 2007, the average price of a house in the county stood at £136,385

compared to £125,620 the previous April.

April’s figures also represent a rise of 0.8 per cent on March’s house prices.

The average cost of a detached house in West Yorkshire in April was £251,114,

semis costs £134,193 and the average price of a terraced house stood at

£89,585.

The figures put West Yorkshire well below the national average cost of a house,

which stood at £179,935 in April.

The busiest month for moving house in West Yorkshire between April 2006 and

this February was in June last year, when 5,185 properties were sold. The

quietest month was in February with 3,314 homes sold.
