House Prices Rise on the Isle of Wight

House prices in the Isle of Wight rose by just over seven per cent in a year, Land

Registry figures show.

In April 2007, the average price of a house in the area stood at £177,426

compared to £165,229 the previous April.

April’s figures also represent a rise of 1.5 per cent on March’s house prices.

The average cost of a detached house on the Isle of Wight in April was

£286,967, semis costs £173,992 and the average price of a terraced house

stood at £148,246.

The figures put the Isle of Wight slightly below the national average cost of a

house, which stood at £179,935 in April.

The busiest month for moving house on the Isle of Wight between April 2006 and

this February was in August last year, when 425 properties were sold. The

quietest month was in February with 227 homes sold.
