House Prices Rise in Greater London

House prices in Greater London rose by just under 16 per cent in a year, Land

Registry figures show.

In April 2007, the average price of a house in the city stood at £333,785

compared to £288,692 the previous April.

April’s figures also represent a rise of 2.3 per cent on March’s house prices.

The average cost of a detached house in Greater London in April was £588,604,

semis costs £342,325 and the average price of a terraced house stood at

£305,212.

The figures put Greater London well above the national average cost of a house,

which stood at £179,935 in April.

The busiest month for moving house in Greater London between April 2006 and

this February was in August last year, when 16,033 properties were sold. The

quietest month was in February with 10,227 homes sold.
