House prices in South Yorkshire rose by just under eight per cent in a year, Land
Registry figures show.
In April 2007, the average price of a house in the county stood at £125,393
compared to £116,234 the previous April.
April’s figures also represent a rise of 1.1 per cent on March’s house prices.
The average cost of a detached house in South Yorkshire in April was £215,593,
semis costs £113,581 and the average price of a terraced house stood at £78,592.
The figures put South Yorkshire well below the national average cost of a house,
which stood at £179,935 in April.
The busiest month for moving house in South Yorkshire between April 2006 and this
February was in June last year, when 2,645 properties were sold. The quietest
month was in February with 1,680 homes sold.
