House prices in Leicestershire rose by just over five per cent in a year, Land
Registry figures show.
In April 2007, the average price of a house in the county stood at £166,876
compared to £158,505 the previous April.
April’s figures also represent a rise of 0.5 per cent on March’s house prices.
The average cost of a detached house in Leicestershire in April was £255,736,
semis costs £138,534 and the average price of a terraced house stood at
£114,496.
The figures put Leicestershire below the national average cost of a house, which
stood at £179,935 in April.
The busiest month for moving house in Leicestershire between April 2006 and
this February was in June last year, when 1,500 properties were sold. The
quietest month was in February with 864 homes sold.
