House Prices Rise in Greater Manchester, North West England

House prices in Greater Manchester rose by just under eight per cent in a year,

Land Registry figures show.

In April 2007, the average price of a house in the city stood at £125,814

compared to £116,653 the previous April.

April’s figures also represent a rise of 0.9 per cent on March’s house prices.

The average cost of a detached house in Greater Manchester in April was

£254,245, semis costs £137,217 and the average price of a terraced house

stood at £78,259.

The figures put Greater Manchester above the national average cost of a house,

which stood at £179,935 in April.

The busiest month for moving house in Greater Manchester between April 2006

and this February was in June last year, when 5,955 properties were sold. The

quietest month was in February with 3,814 homes sold.
