House prices in Essex rose by just over seven per cent in a year, Land Registry
figures show.
In April 2007, the average price of a house in the county stood at £198,648
compared to £185,027 the previous April.
April’s figures also represent a rise of 0.9 per cent on March’s house prices.
The average cost of a detached house in Essex in April was £308,576, semis
costs £193,832 and the average price of a terraced house stood at £156,770.
The figures put Essex above the national average cost of a house, which stood
at £179,935 in April.
The busiest month for moving house in Essex between April 2006 and this
February was in August last year, when 3,376 properties were sold. The quietest
month was in February with 2,151 homes sold.
