House Prices Rise in Devon, South West England

House prices in Devon rose by just over six per cent in a year, Land Registry

figures show.

In April 2007, the average price of a house in the county stood at £203,264

compared to £190,704 the previous April.

April’s figures also represent a rise of 0.5 per cent on March’s house prices.

The average cost of a detached house in Devon in April was £306,247, semis

costs £188,032 and the average price of a terraced house stood at £154,543.

The figures put Devon above the national average cost of a house, which stood

at £179,935 in April.

The busiest month for moving house in Devon between April 2006 and this

February was in July last year, when 1,870 properties were sold. The quietest

month was in February with 1,124 homes sold.
