House Prices Fall in Carmarthenshire, West Wales

Property prices in Carmarthenshire, West Wales, fell by 0.9 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Carmarthenshire stood at £136,149 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £177,581 in January 2007, compared to £188,273 in the previous January, a difference of 5.7 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £120,961 last January, compared to £117,755 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £107,055 in January 2007, compared to £91,588 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Carmarthenshire between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £30,000 while the most expensive cost £725,000.

In total, during the same period, £446m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Carmarthenshire in January last year compares to £136,149 for the county of West Wales and a national average of £211,232.
