House Prices Fall in Pontefract, West Yorkshire

Property prices in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, fell by 1.5 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Pontefract stood at £115,608 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £233,616 in January 2007, compared to £195,647 in the previous January, a difference of 19.4 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £119,057 last January, compared to £106,816 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £89,279 in January 2007, compared to £88,765 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Pontefract between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £10,000 while the most expensive cost £875,000.

In total, during the same period, £210m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Pontefract in January last year compares to £146,373 for the county of West Yorkshire and a national average of £211,232.
