House Prices Rise in Leeds, West Yorkshire

Property prices in Leeds, West Yorkshire, rose by 8 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Leeds stood at £160,666 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £293,436 in January 2007, compared to £275,944 in the previous January, a difference of 6.3 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £161,343 last January, compared to £144,231 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £120,362 in January 2007, compared to £119,173 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Leeds between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £10,000 while the most expensive cost £9m.

In total, during the same period, £2,318m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Leeds in January last year compares to £146,373 for the county of West Yorkshire and a national average of £211,232.
