House Prices Rise in Halifax, West Yorkshire

Property prices in Halifax, West Yorkshire, rose by 6.9 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Halifax stood at £125,201 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £248,777 in January 2007, compared to £208,802 in the previous January, a difference of 19.1 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £145,454 last January, compared to £131,788 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £98,617 in January 2007, compared to £97,404 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Halifax between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £11,000 while the most expensive cost £760,000.

In total, during the same period, £413m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Halifax in January last year compares to £146,373 for the county of West Yorkshire and a national average of £211,232.
