House Prices Rise in Washington, Tyne and Wear

Property prices in Washington, Tyne and Wear, rose by 9.1 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Washington stood at £126,738 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £340,825 in January 2007, compared to £224,813 in the previous January, a difference of 51.6 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £125,633 last January, compared to £131,721 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £104,213 in January 2007, compared to £99,516 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Washington between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £11,930 while the most expensive cost £540,000.

In total, during the same period, £105m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Washington in January last year compares to £141,004 for the county of Tyne and Wear and a national average of £211,232.
