House Prices Rise in South Shields, Tyne and Wear

Property prices in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, rose by 10.2 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in South Shields stood at £127,645 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £224,650 in January 2007, compared to £152,575 in the previous January, a difference of 47.2 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £146,471 last January, compared to £133,782 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £120,828 in January 2007, compared to £118,992 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in South Shields between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £12,600 while the most expensive cost £522,500.

In total, during the same period, £168m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in South Shields in January last year compares to £141,004 for the county of Tyne and Wear and a national average of £211,232.
