House Prices Rise in Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Property prices in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, rose by 13.1 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Shrewsbury stood at £196,561 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £287,676 in January 2007, compared to £272,187 in the previous January, a difference of 5.7 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £176,665 last January, compared to £160,532 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £155,548 in January 2007, compared to £136,509 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Shrewsbury between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £34,500 while the most expensive cost £1m.

In total, during the same period, £463m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Shrewsbury in January last year compares to £191,321 for the county of Shropshire and a national average of £211,232.
