House Prices Rise in Brecon, Powys

Property prices in Brecon, Powys, rose by 15.1 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Brecon stood at £197,763 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £296,500 in January 2007, compared to £235,278 in the previous January, a difference of 26 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £140,000 last January, compared to £172,999 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £153,428 in January 2007, compared to £136,888 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Brecon between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £40,000 while the most expensive cost £620,000.

In total, during the same period, £64m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Brecon in January last year compares to £182,262 for the county of Powys and a national average of £211,232.
