House Prices Rise in York, North Yorkshire

Property prices in York, North Yorkshire, rose by 8.3 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in York stood at £206,769 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £302,596 in January 2007, compared to £264,954 in the previous January, a difference of 14.2 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £198,231 last January, compared to £179,963 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £173,591 in January 2007, compared to £162,158 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in York between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £28,000 while the most expensive cost £2m.

In total, during the same period, £1,312m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in York in January last year compares to £211,596 for the county of North Yorkshire and a national average of £211,232.
