House Prices Fall in Whitby, North Yorkshire

Property prices in Whitby, North Yorkshire, fell by 12.8 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Whitby stood at £162,930 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £253,750 in January 2007, compared to £291,921 in the previous January, a difference of 13.1 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £203,375 last January, compared to £177,243 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £148,821 in January 2007, compared to £167,230 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Whitby between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £30,000 while the most expensive cost £660,000.

In total, during the same period, £105m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Whitby in January last year compares to £211,596 for the county of North Yorkshire and a national average of £211,232.
