House Prices Rise in Scarborough, North Yorkshire

Property prices in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, rose by 20 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Scarborough stood at £160,458 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £259,089 in January 2007, compared to £228,919 in the previous January, a difference of 13.2 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £166,749 last January, compared to £140,590 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £121,965 in January 2007, compared to £115,321 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Scarborough between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £30,000 while the most expensive cost £940,000.

In total, during the same period, £261m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Scarborough in January last year compares to £211,596 for the county of North Yorkshire and a national average of £211,232.
