House Prices Rise in Preston, Lancashire

Property prices in Preston, Lancashire, rose by 9 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Preston stood at £157,102 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £257,334 in January 2007, compared to £248,425 in the previous January, a difference of 3.6 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £155,833 last January, compared to £141,657 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £109,066 in January 2007, compared to £103,563 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Preston between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £10,200 while the most expensive cost £1m.

In total, during the same period, £995m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Preston in January last year compares to £143,961 for the county of Lancashire and a national average of £211,232.
