House Prices Fall in Canterbury, Kent

Property prices in Canterbury, Kent, fell by 13.2 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Canterbury stood at £220,392 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £340,448 in January 2007, compared to £412,124 in the previous January, a difference of 17.4 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £204,673 last January, compared to £208,051 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £173,529 in January 2007, compared to £169,670 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Canterbury between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £38,000 while the most expensive cost £2m.

In total, during the same period, £373m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Canterbury in January last year compares to £221,946 for the county of Kent and a national average of £211,232.
