House Prices Fall in Ashford, Kent

Property prices in Ashford, Kent, fell by 2.3 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Ashford stood at £200,461 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £325,532 in January 2007, compared to £290,137 in the previous January, a difference of 12.2 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £185,852 last January, compared to £204,242 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £156,852 in January 2007, compared to £147,268 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Ashford between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £35,625 while the most expensive cost £1m.

In total, during the same period, £553m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Ashford in January last year compares to £221,946 for the county of Kent and a national average of £211,232.
