House Prices Fall in Newport, Isle Of Wight
Property prices in Newport, Isle Of Wight, fell by 1.9 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.
According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Newport stood at £157,775 last January.
The average price of a detached home was £222,175 in January 2007, compared to £222,812 in the previous January, a difference of 0.3 per cent.
Semi-detached homes cost an average of £155,185 last January, compared to £164,222 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £134,854 in January 2007, compared to £159,444 in January 2006.
The cheapest property purchased in Newport between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £53,525 while the most expensive cost £600,000.
In total, during the same period, £122m was spent on property in the area.
The average price of a house in Newport in January last year compares to £204,172 for the county of Isle Of Wight and a national average of £211,232.
