House Prices Rise in St Albans, Hertfordshire

Property prices in St Albans, Hertfordshire, rose by 13.5 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in St Albans stood at £329,649 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £570,239 in January 2007, compared to £530,014 in the previous January, a difference of 7.6 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £310,767 last January, compared to £271,264 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £288,186 in January 2007, compared to £241,523 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in St Albans between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £24,700 while the most expensive cost £2m.

In total, during the same period, £807m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in St Albans in January last year compares to £286,498 for the county of Hertfordshire and a national average of £211,232.
