House Prices Rise in London, Greater London

Property prices in London, Greater London, rose by 14.3 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in London stood at £390,773 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £1m in January 2007, compared to £1m in the previous January, a difference of 8.8 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £506,306 last January, compared to £432,742 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £466,965 in January 2007, compared to £405,340 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in London between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £50,000 while the most expensive cost £12m.

In total, during the same period, £31,969m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in London in January last year compares to £340,961 for the county of Greater London and a national average of £211,232.
