House Prices Fall in Stansted, Essex

Property prices in Stansted, Essex, fell by 6.6 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Stansted stood at £257,153 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £347,400 in January 2007, compared to £477,500 in the previous January, a difference of 27.3 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £228,748 last January, compared to £269,000 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £175,000 in January 2007, compared to £205,750 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Stansted between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £86,200 while the most expensive cost £740,000.

In total, during the same period, £36m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Stansted in January last year compares to £226,157 for the county of Essex and a national average of £211,232.
