House Prices Rise in Southend-on-Sea, Essex

Property prices in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, rose by 7 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Southend-on-Sea stood at £202,040 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £340,135 in January 2007, compared to £322,942 in the previous January, a difference of 5.3 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £192,313 last January, compared to £182,811 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £171,039 in January 2007, compared to £159,285 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Southend-on-Sea between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £42,000 while the most expensive cost £840,000.

In total, during the same period, £393m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Southend-on-Sea in January last year compares to £226,157 for the county of Essex and a national average of £211,232.
