House Prices Rise in Ely, Cambridgeshire

Property prices in Ely, Cambridgeshire, rose by 9.8 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Ely stood at £196,664 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £273,459 in January 2007, compared to £227,505 in the previous January, a difference of 20.2 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £153,590 last January, compared to £173,619 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £154,406 in January 2007, compared to £146,563 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Ely between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £41,250 while the most expensive cost £770,000.

In total, during the same period, £313m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Ely in January last year compares to £214,280 for the county of Cambridgeshire and a national average of £211,232.
