House Prices Rise in Luton, Bedfordshire

Property prices in Luton, Bedfordshire, rose by 8.1 per cent between January 2006 and January 2007.

According to the latest Land Registry figures, the average price of a property in Luton stood at £161,372 last January.

The average price of a detached home was £259,776 in January 2007, compared to £256,578 in the previous January, a difference of 1.3 per cent.

Semi-detached homes cost an average of £177,749 last January, compared to £153,777 the year before while the average price of a terraced home stood at £146,184 in January 2007, compared to £132,831 in January 2006.

The cheapest property purchased in Luton between January 2006 and January 2007 sold for £50,000 while the most expensive cost £830,000.

In total, during the same period, £716m was spent on property in the area.

The average price of a house in Luton in January last year compares to £200,978 for the county of Bedfordshire and a national average of £211,232.
